Subject: Translator Database

The Questar III Bilingual Education Technical Assistance Center (BETAC) maintains a database of translators.  We often receive requests for translators from schools who may need a translator for a particular language and area of expertise.

We are in the process of updating our files. If you are interested in having your name on file with our office as a potential translator, please complete the enclosed form and return to our office as soon as possible. The general procedure is as follows:

• a school district or parent may need a translator for a specific issue, for example a parent-teacher meeting or translating for an exam, in a specific language
• the school district contacts the BETAC and requests a translator
• we at the BETAC check our database, find the appropriate person, and give the school district the translator’s name and contact information
• the school contacts the translator directly and arranges for the translation and payment

We are always looking for more translators!  Please feel free to share this form with anyone who you think may be able and would be interested in being on our translator database. Please feel free to call our office (518-477-8771) with any questions and thank you for your interest.
